ACTIVITIES

At school/library visits I like to do an activity with kids where they collaborate to make a single panel comic. Each student has a chance to do each of four activities: create a title, draw line art, color, and write dialogue. At the end, there are some  funny, unique comics that could have never come from just one person. Here's the sheet I use. Please feel free to print it out and try with your class or family or friends!  Below is an example with some instructions.

The first student writes a title, something they think might result in a funny or interesting visual. They then sign the "Title by:" area and passes the sheet to the left.

The next student draws line art based on the title. Line art is just the outline of a drawing, not colored in. Make sure students know not to use the empty word balloon space yet. They then sign the "Line Art by: " area and pass the sheet to the left.

The next student colors in the drawing. Again, leaving the word balloon empty. They sign the area that says "Colors by:" and pass to the left.

Finally, the last student to get the sheet will write words in the word balloon. And sign the "Words by:" area.
